CLARIN, Bohol – Instead of supporting its own fellow Liberal Party bet for congressman in 2nd district, candidates of this town led by reelectionist Mayor Allen Piezas pitched support for the reelection of Rep. Aris Aumentado.
Congressman Aris Aumentado had this to say in fb post: “Attended the LP local slate proclamation rally of Clarin, Bohol. I was chosen as their official candidate for Congressman. Thank you Mayor Allen Piezas, Vice Mayor Velden Aparicio and Team Clarin. Let us work together for the best of Clarin.”
Earlier, a supporter of Piezas camp bared that it appeared awkward at first that the LP here is backing up non-party member. But later on, he said, the people here thru Mayor Piezas realized that they cannot turn their back to the incumbent congressman for his help and contribution to the development of this town.
Aumentado is running under the banner of Natinalist People’s Coalition (NPC) but the party has no presidential and vice-presidential bet. He is campaigning for United Nationalist Alliance standard bearer V-President Jejomar Binay and Sen. Bongbong Marcos for vice-president.
It was not immediately known what would be the reaction of congressional wanna-be incumbent board member Gerry Garcia, who was picked by LP provincial directorate and endorsed by LP presidential bet Mar roxas and his runningmate Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo, to be the official bet for congressman.
A source who just wanted anonymity said that during the LP rally yesterday here, Aris (referring to Aris Aumentado) came in first then after he exited, Garcia arrived. This was not independently confirmed, however.
In Sagbayan, President Carlos P. Garcia, Inabanga and Trinidad towns, the same scenario is reportedly prevailing unless a twists occurred when judgment day comes, another source said.
Aumentado enjoys the solid north support for another term in Congress representing second district, which has 14 towns.
The officials of the municipalities of Buenavista led by Mayor Sample Tirol; Getafe by Mayor Casoy Camacho; Danao town by Mayor Gonzaga; San Miguel by outgoing Mayor Claudio Bonior and vice-mayor Reyes; CPG by outgoing Mayor Tessie Boyboy; Biern-Unido by outgoing and board member bet Rey Nino Boniel; Talibon by Vice-Mayor Epifanio Quimson; and Dagohoy Mayor reelectionist Sofronio Apat.
